Highest Campus Enrollment in Almost 40 Years

Monday, October 15, 2007
The University of Charleston is enjoying its highest student enrollment in almost 40 years. The official census day count confirmed that the University recorded nearly 1,400 students, including its largest number of full-time undergraduate students since 1971.

The numbers include 435 new undergraduate students and 655 returning undergraduate students for a total of 1,090 full-time undergraduates. This number represents 87 more full-time undergraduates than 2006. In addition to the full-time undergraduates, there are 225 full-time graduate students. The full-time student total of 1,315 represents a 20 percent increase over last year.

UC's cumulative total (head count), including part-time students, is 1,398. Within this number are 159 School of Pharmacy students and 54 Executive Master's of Business Administration (EMBA) students.

“Our national recognitions, our excellent academic programs, and the way UC prepares students for their professional lives are primary reasons for our success,” said Vice President of Enrollment and Student Life Brad Parrish. “Our outstanding enrollment affirms the mission of the University, and clearly shows that UC is on the move. Additionally, although our enrollment is growing, we are still maintaining our low student-faculty ratio and our student-centered focus through the outcomes-based Learning Your Way academic program.”
